BOILER TESTING
Q-Riims Inspection and Testing services maker boiler inspection easier, safer and better.
When you are working in any industry that uses high-pressure tanks or steam boilers for construction or projects, safety is a crucial concern. No matter the boiler type be it hot water, fire tube or water tube boilers the only way to ensure its safe and efficient operation is via boiler inspection.
According to AS/NZS 6788 also known as the Australian and New Zealand Standard for the requirement of pressure equipment, boilers of any size need to be inspected yearly to ensure that they are safe and able to function correctly.
Q-Riims offer the most thorough boiler inspection service in Brisbane.
When a boiler is being tested every part and element must be inspected to ensure that they meet AS 3788-2006 which is the Pressure Equipment in Service Inspection standard. This is achieved by doing both external and internal inspection on the boiler to check for signs of weakness, corrosion, scale, leaks, overheating or flame impingement and more.
External inspections are recommended to be conducted every six months while the boiler is under pressure, while internal inspections are annual and need to check the key parts of the internal equipment such as but not limited to the fittings and appurnaces, steam space, blow off and water connections, fireside conditions, deaerators, superheaters and economisers.
Internal inspection for the boiler, pressure vessel, tank and piping industries have been revolutionised with the development of the pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) camera together with real-time multitasking software operating systems delivering remote directional and zoom control and real-time data collection. This really is the perfect set-up for remote visual inspections of tanks and vessels - the PTZ is putting plant management in the palm of your hand and industry is very happy with the results.
Safety is Q-Riims number one priority.
Boilers have a wide range of built-in safety equipment that must be functioning correctly for the boiler to be operating safely. Some of the key parts of the equipment that need to be inspected regularly include:
- Flame out shutdowns
- Alarms for low water
- Water Treatments
Arguably the most important piece of safety equipment in a boiler are the Pressure Safety Valves and the Pressure Relief Valves which relieve pressure inside the tank and prevent explosive damage in case of emergency. PSV’s and PRV’s need to be tested so that they comply with the AS1227 regulations and open correctly in the case of pressure build up.
